The project requires meticulous planning and adjustments to support the installation of a new heliport atop an existing building. This includes modifying the ballasted roof and extending an elevator’s vertical reach to provide direct heliport access. To address the challenges posed by helicopter downwash, various roofing materials were thoroughly evaluated. Ultimately, the decision was made to remove the existing ballast and install concrete pavers, effectively protecting both the roofing system and the underlying structure.
Throughout the project, our team has closely coordinated with key agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Secret Service, and the Federal Aviation Administration. This collaboration has been essential to ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, fostering inter-agency cooperation, and maintaining full regulatory compliance.
